Jene’s Why

Coaching interests: rowing, running, endurance training, engine building, skill progressions, mobility, and women’s health, empowerment, & confidence

“I came to KCF without a formal athletic background. I had been running and lifting, but only in the safety of my own basement and never with an actual coach. I wasn’t ‘athletically inclined.’ I was confident in my ability to run fast and far, but little else, both in and out of the gym. After coming to KCF, I was constantly inspired by our incredible group of coaches to be better in so many ways, to challenge myself, to do hard things, and to keep growing and evolving. At some point I realized that I wanted to help others grow the way that I have since we came here – as people, first – finding their confidence and their voice, and as athletes, second. I want to help someone who is entering a gym for the first time believe that they can change the health trajectory of their lives while working hard, doing fun things, and being part of a supportive community. I want to help athletes set lofty goals and work to achieve them. I want to give people the tools to run their first mile, get their first pull-up, kick up into their first handstand, feel their toes connect for their first toes to bar, finally hear the whoosh-whoosh of the jump rope passing twice under their feet, nail that PR clean and jerk, or do more ring muscle-up than they’ve ever done in a single day, and be there to high five them when their hard work pays off. I’m so happy to have found a place to call home – one that’s full of inspiring people who pick each other up when they fail at trying scary things so that they can celebrate with each other when they succeed.”
